Satellite training

Graduates from our satellite training done in Fisantekraal and Klipheuwel

FCD have also made inroads directly in the communities of Fisatekraal and Klipheuwel by running training at venues in those areas – enabling those who cannot afford to travel to Durbanville an opportunity to receive training within walking distance from their homes.

Linda Henning faciliated the English course in one of the Josiah Trust containers in Klipheuwel

Many of the participants of the Job Readiness and Business Skills courses felt the need to improve their Englishs and were grateful for the opportunity to work on their communication skills through the English course.

Anita Grove facilitated many of the life skills modules covered in the Job Readiness programme

Anita was encouraged by the excellent attendance and active participation of the candidates on the Job Readiness programme. She was also pleased to witness the emotional development of individuals over the weeks.

Olga Tshikovhi and Faniswa Tshofili completed their job shadows at Markham and were contracted to return for another few days to help the store cope with the Black Friday rush.

In her learner feedback Olga said, “I  learned a lot about difficulties we face in our everyday lives and how to handle them from the Life skills lessons. I have learned some things I had no idea of, from the Computer lessons and Customer service. Telling my life story was a bit of a challenge emotionally, but now I love talking about it all the time. I have learnt the importance of communication in a relationship.  I have learned how to deal or handle conflict, the importance of communication and how to get involved in my community/ country (Active Citizenship). The discipleship sessions were a reminder to me, of how much God loves me and how he promised to never leave nor forsake me. The consequences of rebelling against God and of jealousy. ”

Craig Wilcocks facilitated the business skills class with 6 participants who have a strong desire to start or grow their business.

Craig reported that the participants benefitted greatly from sharing their business experiences with each other and that he is looking forward to mentoring those who already have already commenced business operations.

We’re looking forward to seeing more Fisantekraal and Klipheuwel community members taking hold of this great training opportunity being made available to them.
