The FCD team consists of a small group of staff members and trainers who look after the day to day operational activities.
We are reminded that, like the Ephesians Paul was writing to in Eph2v10 “we (and our students, volunteers and partners) are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.
Centre Director, Jane Gelderman, manages the facility with wisdom and gentleness ensuring that training goals and objectives are met, while developing relationships with partners and seeking funding to ensure the ongoing continuity of the centre.
Head of Marketing, Events and Partnerships, Chantelle Engelbrecht is responsible for developing new and nurturing existing relationships with volunteers and partners. She works closely with the board and management team in growing the FCD network to ensure opportunities for placement, sponsorships and development of students.
Head of Training, Cheryl van der Merwe is primarily responsible for the efficient running of all the training courses, overseeing the facilitation of the training by trainers and volunteers. She handles some of the core training and evaluation of the learners, assisting in learners placement recommendations.
Finance officer, Rene Alford , oversees FCD’s finances. We are grateful to have her experience and diligence in this regard.
Administration assistent, Unita Lakey, works closely with the rest of the staff to ensure the smooth running of the various processes that happen within and outside of FCD.
PC skills Trainer, Nonka Dube shared how wonderful it is to be developing her skills and discovering latent talents. She said that she had her eye set on a future in accounting, but since being on staff at FCD, has discovered a love and passion for teaching. Nonka is loved and appreciated by staff and students alike as she shares her gentle nature and Godly wisdom from day to day.
Training Admin Intern, Sibabale Komanisi
Sibabale joined us as Training Admin Intern shortly after completing his Office Basics training at FCD. He is an asset to the previously all-girl team, sharing his gentle strength and professional nature with staff and students alike. We are grateful to True South Actuaries for making this internship possible.
Several Pastors from the Durbanville area are committed to the spiritual development of every person who spends time at FCD.
We are extremely grateful for the Bible-based teaching, spiritual guidance and prayer support of:
- Grant Hopkins from Protea Valley
- Sean McGuigan and Londiwe Xulu from Durbanville Methodist Church
- Mark Parris from Durbanville Community Church
- Desmond Barry from Lofdal Fisantekraal
- Tinus Van Zyl from NG Kerk Durbanville
FCD board members, donors and volunteers play a vital role in equipping learners to become economically active
A network of volunteers form an invaluable part of the FCD team, providing a diversity of talents and experience from which our learners benefit significantly.
