FCD have made inroads directly in the communities of Fisatekraal and Klipheuwel by running training at venues in those areas – enabling those who cannot afford to travel to Durbanville an opportunity to receive training within walking distance from their homes.
We were delighted to run the Business Skills Course, Job Readiness Programme and English for Adults in the communities.
We were grateful to have had access to the Josiah Trust facilities in Klipheuwel as well as the services of a 2013 FCD graduate, Nkupane (Mabhuti) Ntswane. Mabhuti has been a terrific ambassador for FCD ever since his initial training with us, and has been using the skills he learnt on FCD’s Basic Computer course to teach others in his community. Mabhuti facilitated all the PC skills training for FCD in Klipheuwel during this round of training – achieving his dream of becoming a pc skills trainer.
Lawrene Harris, from Fisantekraal, participated in all 3 courses offered at our Satellite training venues in Fisantekraal and Klipheuwel. She was nominated by all 3 her trainers as the most motivated person to succeed. Her Business Skills trainer nominated her for her exemplary attitude of involvement, sharing of insights and experience and assisting the delegates over the duration of the course. She has a remarkable ability to encourage others and enthusiastically participated in all sessions. Even though Lawrene the tragedy of losing her son in a freak accident, she decided to return to class in honour of her children for whom she wants to improve the quality of her life.
